General Intuition Eyes $6B Valuation as Robotics Push Grows

New York-based AI startup General Intuition is reportedly in talks to raise fresh funding at a $6 billion pre-money valuation, marking a major jump for the young company as it expands its focus from digital environments into robotics.

The new funding round is expected to include Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures, and Seven Seven Six, according to people familiar with the deal. Existing backers, including Khosla Ventures and General Catalyst, are also expected to take part.

The potential round comes only weeks after General Intuition raised $320 million at a $2.3 billion valuation, highlighting the growing investor interest in companies working on what is increasingly being called physical AI.

The company is led by CEO Pim de Witte, who launched General Intuition last October after spinning it out of Medal, his video game clip-sharing platform. Medal provided the startup with a large starting dataset: hundreds of millions of hours of gameplay along with detailed “action labels” showing which buttons players pressed and when.

That data could prove important to General Intuition’s broader goal of developing AI systems that can understand how to act across different environments rather than simply follow instructions for a specific task.

Khosla Ventures investor Vinod Khosla recently said he believes these action labels could play an important role in what he describes as the “emergence of intuition.” The idea is that AI models could eventually develop the ability to generalize their understanding and apply it to tasks they were not specifically trained to perform.

General Intuition has not yet finalized the latest financing round. However, a source close to the company said the round is oversubscribed, with continued interest from investors.

The startup plans to use the new capital to further develop its general AI model, with a particular focus on robotic embodiments. In practical terms, that means General Intuition wants its AI systems to move beyond digital worlds and eventually operate through physical machines.

To support that ambition, the company is expected to increase spending on computing infrastructure and expand its team. General Intuition already has a partnership with CoreWeave, a company that provides large-scale cloud computing infrastructure for AI workloads.

The reported involvement of Valor Equity Partners is also notable. The investment firm is well known for backing SpaceX, and if the deal goes through, General Intuition would reportedly be the first AI lab the fund has invested in since SpaceX.

The latest funding discussions show how quickly investor expectations around General Intuition have changed. Just weeks after securing $320 million at a $2.3 billion valuation, the company could now be valued at $6 billion before the new money enters the business.

The funding round is still being finalized, and details could change before it closes. The company continues to attract interest as investors look for startups developing AI systems capable of operating across both virtual and physical environments.
