Life360 Adds $7.99 Pet Tags and New “Zoomies” Alerts

Life360 is making its pet-tracking service more flexible with a new line of low-cost, scannable pet tags and several features designed to help families manage everyday pet care.

The family safety and location-sharing company announced the new products Tuesday, including $7.99 pet tags that use QR codes to help reunite lost pets with their owners. The update comes as Life360 continues to build out its pet technology business, which expanded significantly after the company acquired Tile in 2021.

Life360 entered the pet-tracking market last year with GPS trackers that use the same lost-item-finding technology behind Tile. The company’s platform now allows users to keep track of family members as well as important belongings such as keys, handbags, luggage and pets.

According to Life360, families using the service have added more than 8 million pets to their accounts.

But the company says it discovered that GPS tracking isn’t necessary for every pet or every owner. Some people don’t want to put a larger tracking device on their pet’s collar, while others simply want a convenient way to display their contact information.

That is where the new scannable pet tags come in.

Each tag includes a QR code that can be scanned by someone who finds a lost pet. Rather than simply showing the owner’s phone number, the scan also sends an alert to the pet’s family through the Life360 app. Importantly, the person who finds the pet does not need to have Life360 installed on their phone.

The feature could give families an extra layer of information while searching for a missing pet. If the pet gets away from the person who found it and runs off again, the family can still have a record of the location where the tag was scanned.

Pet owners can also update their contact information directly through the pet’s profile inside the Life360 app.

Life360 is adding more features aimed at everyday pet care, too. New “care logs” allow family members to record tasks such as feeding a pet, taking it for a walk, giving medication or cleaning a litter box. Because these records are visible to the entire family, everyone can see what has already been done and what still needs attention.

For pet owners using GPS trackers, Life360 is also introducing “Zoomies Alerts.” The feature highlights bursts of energy from pets at different times during the day or evening.

A new Weekly Roundup will provide a broader look at a pet’s activity and care routine, including walking distance and which family member provided the most care during the week.

Life360 is also lowering the barrier to its GPS pet trackers. Previously, the devices were available only through the company’s higher-tier Platinum and Gold subscriptions. They will now also be included with the $99-per-year Silver bundles.

The new pet tags and GPS trackers are available through Life360’s website and Amazon in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the U.K., giving pet owners more options depending on how much tracking and pet-care functionality they need.
