Bending Spoons Files for U.S. IPO After Acquisition Spree
2 min read
Italian technology company Bending Spoons has officially filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in the United States, marking a major milestone for one of Europe’s fastest-growing app and software firms. The move comes as several high-profile companies, including SpaceX and Anthropic, are also preparing for potential public listings this year.
Bending Spoons has gained attention in recent years for its aggressive acquisition strategy, buying and restructuring a range of well-known digital businesses. Its portfolio now includes companies and platforms such as Eventbrite, Vimeo, WeTransfer, Evernote, Brightcove, AOL, and Komoot.
According to documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company now serves more than 500 million monthly active users across its various products. It also reported approximately 9 million paying subscribers, highlighting the strength of its recurring revenue model.
Financial results included in the filing show strong growth. Bending Spoons generated $1.31 billion in revenue during the previous year. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, revenue reached $601 million, representing a 132% increase compared to the same period a year earlier. The company also posted a profit of $27.4 million during the quarter.
Subscriptions remain the backbone of the business, accounting for roughly 84% of total revenue. This recurring income stream has helped the company maintain growth while integrating newly acquired businesses.
Investor interest in Bending Spoons has increased rapidly over the past two years. The company secured funding at an $11 billion valuation in 2025, a sharp rise from its $2.8 billion valuation in 2024. Earlier this year, a Reuters report suggested the company could seek a valuation of around $20 billion through its IPO.
Among its major backers are investment firm Baillie Gifford, along with Cox Enterprises, Durable Capital Partners, and Fidelity.
Bending Spoons has built a reputation for acquiring struggling digital businesses, streamlining operations, reducing costs, and introducing new subscription-based models to improve profitability. The upcoming IPO will provide investors with a closer look at whether that strategy can continue delivering growth on a larger scale.
If successful, the listing could become one of the most notable technology IPOs of 2026 and further strengthen Bending Spoons’ position as a major player in the global software industry.
