Revolut Valuation Soars 53% to $115B Ahead of US Bank Launch
4 min read
British fintech giant Revolut has reached a new valuation of $115 billion following a secondary share sale, marking a 53% increase from its valuation in a similar transaction last year. The latest development comes as the company expands its international banking operations and prepares to launch a national bank in the United States in 2027.
The share sale was led by several major investment firms, including Glade Brook Capital Partners, Coatue, Durable Capital Partners, T. Rowe Price Associates, and Baillie Gifford. However, the transaction did not bring fresh capital into the company, as existing shares were sold between investors. Revolut has not disclosed the total value of the shares involved in the deal.
Founded in 2015 by Nik Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko, Revolut has transformed from a simple money-transfer application into a global financial services platform. The company now serves more than 80 million retail customers across over 40 countries, offering services that extend beyond international payments.
Revolut Expands Its Global Banking Presence
Revolut has been accelerating its international expansion as it moves to establish a stronger presence in major financial markets.
The fintech has built banking operations across Europe and launched banking services in the UK, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand this year. It has also secured banking licenses in France, Colombia, and Argentina, strengthening its position in international markets.
India is another important market for the company. Revolut started rolling out financial services in the country earlier this year as it looks to expand its customer base across Asia.
In the United States, the company has received conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to establish a national bank. Revolut expects to launch its US banking operations in the first half of 2027, although the launch remains subject to final regulatory approval.
Strong Financial Performance Supports Its Rising Valuation
Revolut’s latest valuation reflects its growing customer base and increasing profitability.
The London-based fintech generated approximately $6 billion in revenue in 2025, with profit margins reaching 38%. Its ability to combine international expansion with strong financial performance has helped strengthen investor confidence in the business.
While consumer financial services remain central to Revolut’s operations, its business banking division is becoming an increasingly important source of revenue.
Launched in 2017, Revolut Business now contributes around 20% of the company’s gross profit. James Gibson, head of Revolut Business and a partner at the company, shared these details in a recent interview with TechCrunch.
Revolut Business Generates Billions in Transactions
Revolut Business has expanded its services across Europe, the UK, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.
The division currently processes more than £36 billion, or approximately $48.6 billion, in transactions every month. More than £1 billion (around $1.35 billion) of that monthly transaction volume comes from the US market alone.
According to information shared with TechCrunch, Revolut Business generates over £950 million (approximately $1.28 billion) in annualized revenue and holds more than £18 billion (roughly $24.3 billion) in customer deposits.
The company is also seeing strong demand from newly established businesses. Nearly half of Revolut Business’s new customers in the United States are newly incorporated companies, highlighting its growing appeal among startups and entrepreneurs.
New Markets and Customer Growth Are Key Priorities
Revolut is now looking beyond its existing markets to expand its business banking services further.
According to Gibson, the company is exploring opportunities to bring Revolut Business to additional markets, including Mexico, Brazil, and India. However, he did not provide a specific timeline for these launches.
The company also has an ambitious customer acquisition target. Revolut wants to increase its business customer base from more than 800,000 businesses to one million by 2027.
Achieving this target could further strengthen its position in the global business banking market, particularly as more companies look for digital alternatives to traditional financial services.
Revolut Considers a Future US and UK IPO
Alongside its international expansion, Revolut is also evaluating its options for a future stock market listing.
Co-founder and CEO Nik Storonsky has considered a dual listing in New York and London, while indicating a preference for a primary listing in the United States.
Reports suggest that a potential initial public offering (IPO) could value the fintech at as much as $200 billion. However, the company is not expected to go public before 2028, with the final timing likely to depend on market conditions.
For now, Revolut’s focus remains on expanding its banking operations, growing its business customer base, and strengthening its position in international financial markets.
Its latest $115 billion valuation highlights how far the company has progressed since launching as a money-transfer app in 2015. With a US banking launch planned for 2027 and further expansion opportunities ahead, Revolut is positioning itself for another major phase of growth.
