Meta’s Muse AI Gets a Tamagotchi-Style Wearable

Meta is giving its new personal AI agent a physical form — and the result looks a lot like a modern-day Tamagotchi.

The company has unveiled Muse Charm, a small AI wearable designed to give users another way to interact with Meta’s recently launched Muse assistant. The device was revealed by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during a surprise “one more thing” moment at Meta’s annual Connect event.

Muse Charm isn’t ready to hit stores yet.

Zuckerberg said Meta is still working on the hardware, including finalizing how the internal components will be arranged. The company expects the device to be ready to ship in time for the holiday season in December.

At its core, Muse Charm is a palm-sized digital companion that users can carry in a pocket or attach to a keychain. A small built-in display shows Jolly, the cute digital avatar that represents Meta’s Muse AI agent.

The device is designed to make talking to Muse quick and simple. Rather than pulling out a smartphone, opening an app and starting a conversation, users can interact directly with the wearable.

“We packed the whole Muse experience, including the whole real-time voice and avatar stack, into something that fits on a keychain and is always available to talk to,” Zuckerberg said during the keynote.

The device includes a fingerprint sensor in one corner. Tapping it allows users to start talking to Muse without having to unlock their phone or open an application.

Zuckerberg positioned the wearable as a particularly convenient option for people who aren’t wearing Meta’s smart glasses.

“If you’re not wearing glasses, this is going to be by far the fastest way to talk to your Muse and to show what’s going on around you,” he said.

A Tiny AI Companion

The design of Muse Charm gives the device a distinctly Tamagotchi-like personality.

Instead of being another screen-focused gadget, the wearable is built around a small digital character that users can interact with. Jolly provides Muse with a visible personality, making the AI feel more like a companion than a traditional software assistant.

That approach also fits into Meta’s broader push to make AI available across more physical devices.

Muse Charm could give Meta a relatively simple way to experiment with AI hardware without requiring users to buy a large or complicated device. The small form factor means it can remain with users throughout the day, either in their pocket or attached to their keys.

It also gives Meta another distribution channel for Muse as the company works to expand the AI agent beyond smartphones and computers.

Meta has already been building Muse into a wider ecosystem, including smart glasses and other digital services. The Charm wearable adds another option for users who want quick access to their AI assistant without reaching for a phone.

For now, however, the company still has some hardware work to complete before Muse Charm reaches consumers.

If Meta meets its target, the small AI companion could arrive during the December holiday season, giving the company another physical way to bring Muse into people’s everyday routines.
