Spotify Launches Podcast Clips Sharing Feature

Spotify is making podcast sharing much easier with the launch of its new Podcast Clips feature, officially rolling out to users globally on Wednesday.

The update introduces a new scissors icon inside the app’s “Now Playing” screen, allowing listeners to clip and share specific moments from podcasts directly from the platform. Users can select a portion of audio they find interesting, trim it, preview the clip, and then share it across social media, messaging apps, or with friends and colleagues.

The feature is designed to help users quickly highlight memorable or important podcast moments without needing to share an entire episode.

Once the clip is created, Spotify gives multiple sharing options, including sending the full podcast episode, a specific chapter, timestamp links, or the newly created clip itself.

The launch comes at a time when podcasts are becoming increasingly important sources of breaking news, especially in the technology and AI industries. Many tech executives and founders are now choosing long-form podcast interviews over traditional media appearances, often using podcasts to discuss product launches, company strategies, or industry trends.

Because these interviews can run for hours, listeners may not always have time to watch or stream the full conversation. Spotify’s clipping tool could help important highlights spread faster online, making key moments more accessible to broader audiences.

Spotify also revealed that listeners have already been heavily using its Chapters feature, which launched earlier this year. According to the company, podcast chapters are currently being saved and added to playlists more than 2 million times every month.

The company believes the new clips tool could also become a valuable marketing feature for podcast creators. By allowing users to share short, engaging moments from episodes, podcasts may attract more listeners who later decide to stream the full show.

All saved clips will be stored in users’ Spotify Library, making them easy to revisit later or organize into podcast playlists.

The Podcast Clips feature is now rolling out globally for both free and Premium Spotify users on mobile devices. Spotify added that support for additional podcasts and shows will continue expanding over time.
