Google AI Mode Now Finds In-Stock Items Near You

Google is stepping up its AI game with a fresh set of features aimed at making travel—and shopping—a lot easier. The company announced new updates to its AI Mode that can now help users locate products available in nearby stores and track hotel prices more precisely.

AI That Calls Stores for You

One of the standout upgrades is Google’s ability to check product availability locally—without you lifting a finger. Using its agentic AI, the system can now contact nearby stores on your behalf to confirm whether a specific item is in stock.

This feature originally launched in Search back in November, but it’s now being integrated into AI Mode and will roll out across the United States in the coming weeks.

Here’s how it works: you simply describe what you need in natural language. For example, if you’re traveling and forgot something like prescription sunglasses, you can ask Google to find a nearby store that carries clip-on polarized lenses. The AI will then reach out to stores, gather responses, and send you the results.

Smarter Hotel Price Tracking

Google is also upgrading how users track hotel prices. Previously, you could monitor prices at a city level, but now you can track rates for a specific hotel.

On desktop, users can search for a hotel and toggle the new price tracking feature. On mobile, the option appears under the “Prices” tab. Once activated, you’ll get email alerts if the price changes for your selected travel dates.

This adds another layer of convenience for travelers looking to lock in the best deals without constantly checking prices.

AI Travel Trends Are Surging

The update comes as interest in AI-powered travel tools continues to skyrocket. Google reports that searches for terms like “AI travel assistant” and “AI concierge” have surged by 350% over the past year.

Meanwhile, queries such as “how to use AI to find flight deals” are trending, and interest in “AI flight booking” has jumped by 315%—a clear sign that users are embracing AI to simplify trip planning.

Top Destinations for Summer 2026

Alongside the feature rollout, Google also revealed trending travel destinations based on Google Flights data.

Popular international and domestic spots for summer 2026 include:

  • St. Maarten
  • Stockholm
  • Kansas City
  • Sarasota

The Bigger Picture

With these updates, Google is moving closer to becoming a full-fledged AI assistant that doesn’t just provide information—but takes action on your behalf.

From calling stores to tracking hotel prices automatically, AI Mode is turning everyday tasks into hands-free experiences. And as demand for AI-powered travel tools grows, this could be just the beginning of a more automated way to plan trips and shop smarter.
