Fika Jobs Secures $4M to Reinvent Hiring With AI Video Interviews

The traditional job application process has frustrated both job seekers and employers for years. Candidates often spend hours preparing resumes and cover letters, only to receive little or no feedback. At the same time, companies are overwhelmed by a growing number of applications, many of which are now generated or enhanced with AI tools.
Sweden-based startup Fika Jobs believes it has found a smarter solution. The company has raised $4 million in a pre-seed funding round to develop a new hiring platform that replaces traditional resumes with AI-powered video interviews and short-form candidate profiles.
The funding, announced on Tuesday, will help Fika expand its team, improve its technology, and prepare for a wider public launch later this year.
Rather than asking candidates to repeatedly apply for different positions, Fika creates a single, continuously updated profile that employers can browse whenever new hiring opportunities become available.
The hiring journey begins when job seekers connect their LinkedIn profile to the platform. Fika’s AI analyzes the candidate’s experience and generates personalized interview questions based on their background. Candidates then participate in a video interview lasting around 10 minutes with an AI interviewer currently powered by Google’s Gemini models.
Once the interview is complete, the platform automatically converts the answers into short video clips and organizes them into a professional profile. This allows employers to quickly understand not only a candidate’s qualifications but also their communication style and personality.
The idea for Fika Jobs came from brothers and co-founders Jakob Dubois, the company’s CEO, and Alexander Dubois, its CTO, while building their previous startup.
According to Jakob Dubois, the experience of recruiting employees for their earlier social app, Gaff, changed their perspective on hiring. One candidate nearly missed out because his resume failed to stand out. However, after speaking with him for just a few minutes, the founders realized his determination, ambition, and drive made him exactly the kind of employee they wanted.
That experience convinced the team that many of the qualities employers value most simply cannot be reflected in a resume.
While several AI hiring startups—including Alex, Maki, and Mercor—primarily focus on helping employers source, screen, and match candidates more efficiently, Fika is taking a different route. Instead of simply improving resume screening, the company is building a video-first talent marketplace where candidates maintain AI-reviewed profiles that employers can discover at any time.
The approach could make it easier for recruiters to evaluate communication skills, confidence, and cultural fit early in the hiring process. It may also create more opportunities for recent graduates and professionals from non-traditional backgrounds whose abilities are not always fully reflected in a resume.
However, the company also recognizes the challenges that come with video-based hiring. Displaying a candidate’s appearance, age, gender, race, or accent before evaluating qualifications could introduce bias and increase the risk of discrimination. This concern has led many organizations to adopt blind resume screening practices in recent years.
Fika plans to open early access for job seekers this week, with a broader public launch expected this fall. The company will begin by serving the Swedish market before expanding internationally. It currently operates with a small team but expects to grow to around 10 employees before the end of the year.
Interest in the platform has already been strong. According to the founders, more than 100 companies have joined the waitlist, although they have not revealed their names. In addition, over 50 businesses have already tested the platform, including Plenty Labs, SICS.ai, Kognity, and Rebtel.
The service will remain free for job seekers. Instead of charging employers upfront, Fika earns revenue by taking 10% of a successful candidate’s first-year salary after a hire is completed. The company says this pricing is significantly lower than the 20% to 30% placement fees typically charged by traditional recruitment agencies and headhunters.
The investment round was led by Luminar Ventures, with additional backing from Alliance VC and King co-founders Sebastian Knutsson and Riccardo Zacconi, who are widely known for creating the global mobile gaming hit Candy Crush.
With fresh funding and a unique AI-powered approach, Fika Jobs is aiming to modernize recruitment by making hiring more personal, efficient, and focused on real human potential rather than resumes alone.
